As Jacksonville Athletic Academy prepares for a high-stakes 2025 ICAA football season, all eyes are on a stacked, hard-hitting defense that’s undergone a complete transformation through a rigorous offseason.
From the trenches to the secondary, this JAA defensive unit is not just deep they’re hungry. Anchored by a powerful defensive line and a versatile linebacker corps, the Mocs are set to bring serious heat on the road to the ICAA National Championship at Memorial Stadium in Savannah, GA.
The Front Line: Trenches Win Titles
The defensive line sets the tone and this year’s group brings size, speed, and experience.

Marcial Holmes, a 6'2", 250 lb. transfer from Concord University, adds immediate pass rush and interior disruption.

Joey Couch, 6'2", 260 lbs., is back after a redshirt year with renewed energy and sharper technique.

David Jones, a two-way threat at 6'0", 260 lbs., rotates at both DL and OL, bringing grit and power in the trenches.
“This is the strongest, fastest front we’ve ever had at JAA,” said DL Coach Javari Kelly. “Our guys don’t just clog gaps they collapse pockets and disrupt everything.”
Linebackers: Speed, IQ, and Relentlessness
The linebacker unit coached and molded by NFL veteran and Strength Coach Terrance Plummer blends athleticism with instincts.

Joel Campbell, a returning middle linebacker and field general, commands the defense with vocal leadership and sideline-to-sideline speed.

Nash Batros, a standout freshman from West Nassau High School, has impressed with his physicality and football IQ.

Blake Warner, out of Tocoi Creek High School, brings aggressive tackling and special teams versatility.
“We’ve built a different beast this offseason,” said Coach Plummer. “The linebackers are quicker, stronger, and sharper mentally. They’ve embraced the grind and now they’re ready to dominate.”
Secondary Stars: Air Patrol Reloaded
Led by Defensive Backs Coach Rodrick Harris, JAA’s secondary is deep and versatile, with returning starters and standout transfers.
